What really matters

Got a message in my inbox today from someone.  It doesn't matter who it was/is, but it was hurtful.  Needless to say we are no longer friends in real life or online.  In the Facebook / Internet world, relationships have taken on a new dynamic that they have not before.  This made me think about so much that I have not before.  And don't say you can't relate, because it has happened to you at some point as well, either before or after the online world. I suppose much of it is human nature, we somehow like to take a person who is or was very successful and put them down for their faults or mistakes.  We look at others and see the things that they have, be they material or subliminal, and if you don't keep it under control you can let your jealousy overtake you.  Look at them for those skinny legs or those jewels or all that happiness they seem to have, I want that but I can't have it.  You're not alone, most people in this country are overweight o...

Valentine's Day

Everyone has something to say about this day.  Whether it's something to praise or defy about this day which is supposed to celebrate love.  The most common reaction is for those to not like it much.  It's understandable of course, because we have been conditioned by mass media and capitalism to think that love is something that it's not.  Really, have you seen those commercials for diamonds, candy and flowers at your local retailer or commercials on TV or the Internet?  Many say it makes them sick.  And I would have to agree with it.  Perhaps we should take a few minutes out to ask ourselves why it makes us so sick, because everything, has a perfectly reasonable explanation as to how and why it is the way it is.  This is no exception. 1)  Depressed because you have someone In many ways, this is worse than not having someone.  What if you did have someone and you hated them or they hated you?  Is there really anything ...

The Cleanse - Results

I officially broke the cleanse on Sunday night at a Superbowl party.  Superbowl Sunday invokes a lot of fattening food to be consumed anyway, so I figured it was apropos.  And there was a lot of fattening food to be sure.  Mostly pizza, chicken wings (fried in the skillet, of which gave me pause to not go near for fear of an accident), chili, and a variety of hot dips and chips.  Results?  Without getting to graphic, I had not, you know, until Monday morning.  Bad?  Not half as bad as I thought it would be.  I guess I have to ask myself why I choose to do this.  It's painstaking, having to not eat real food and just drinking it.  But then again, if one were to put their order from McDonald's in a blender you would think the same.  Much of it is mind over matter, which anyone who has ever been on a diet can tell you is what it's all about.  Perhaps I was not the best candidate for this, since my system is probably cleaner than...

The Cleanse - Day 1 down

I have now reached the end of day 1 on this cleanse.  I'm feeling ok, but that 3rd smoothie/shake was so gross I couldn't get it down.  So I dumped it down the drain and decided to eat the ingredients separately because that's the same thing more or less.  And the 2nd lunch smoothie was actually so heavy in the blender that I added some more water to it.  I'm not starving, but it's more of a mental thing that I am drinking things rather than eating something solid.  Maybe this will cause me to reach some kind of nirvana or spiritual plane that I had not been able to do before, but at this moment I am not any closer to said achievement.  If anything I have tried to keep myself occupied with things, like I went out and bought a cross stitching kit and have been busy at work with it since.  We'll see what we see. And as for the actual cleansing, I am no closer to having anything exit my body so I can't comment on what this will or won't do to my well be...

Day 1 - The Dr. Oz Cleanse

Every once in a while I get the urge to do something healthy or at the very least better for me than what I have been doing.  Thanks to a conversation with a fan friend last night, she brought up the Dr. Oz cleanse and I went to his website for more information.  I had done another cleanse in the past, the Master Cleanse, and that was truly painful.  The Master Cleanse, as one can read from their website, is for the best mind over matter individual on earth.  The recipe for the lemonade calls for distilled water, grade B maple syrup (not the type you put on pancakes, one that has not been treated with the extra additives but an authentic representation of what comes out of maple treats with buckets at the end of the taps), lemon juice and cayenne pepper.  Drinking the lemonade isn't so bad, but granted it's an odd tasting one with the added pepper element to it.  What the worst and truly painful moment was having to drink a specially made solution of distil...
